# Ethereum Daily — September 9, 2026

Covering roughly September 8 – September 9, 2026.

**Roadmap.** The Ethereum Foundation's Protocol cluster published its first-ever unified tier list for the Hegotá fork (the upgrade after Glamsterdam), grading all 62 proposed EIPs on a single consolidated scale rather than separate team assessments — input came from roughly 60 researchers and engineers. Two EIPs landed in the top "must ship" tier as fork headliners: EIP-7805 (FOCIL, inclusion lists that let block proposers include transactions without relying on centralized builders) and EIP-8141 (Frame Transactions, native account abstraction that would let users pay gas in assets other than ETH). That's a firmer status than yesterday's "Scheduled for Inclusion" — both are now described as locked in. Glamsterdam itself is unchanged: Sepolia activation is still targeted for October 6, and client-team preference lists for remaining scope items are due tomorrow, September 10.

**Governance.** The same Protocol cluster set a new headline target: quantum-resistant Ethereum L1 by December 2029, covering execution, consensus, and data-availability layers. Getting there requires an aggressive cadence of roughly one hard fork every 7–12 months, and the team explicitly frames Hegotá as the fork that "decides whether the PQ forks happen on time" rather than a PQ fork itself. It's a self-imposed deadline — "Q-day cannot be scheduled" — that the cluster says it will reassess in January 2027. This is new framing, not something in yesterday's post.

**Institutional and corporate adoption.** BitMine (chaired by Tom Lee) added 28,086 ETH on September 7, taking its total holdings to roughly 5.93 million ETH (~$14.8 billion, about 4.9% of ETH supply); 85% of that stake is staked on-chain, generating an estimated $330 million in annualized rewards. That's a fresh data point in BitMine's ongoing weekly accumulation. The Mint Incorporation (NASDAQ: MIMI) Nasdaq-share tokenization deal has no new update since its September 3 announcement — still subject to regulatory approval, still no completion timeline.

**Stats.** ETH is trading around $2,495, up roughly 0.3% on the day. The validator set grew again: 909,930 active validators (up from 908,841), with 42.9 million ETH staked (35.19% of supply, ticking up from 35.13%). The entry queue eased further to 1.94 million ETH with a 33-day, 17-hour wait, while the exit queue is now essentially empty at 32 ETH with a 1-minute wait. Gas held flat around 0.051–0.052 gwei. DeFi TVL is roughly flat at $49.50 billion (+0.31% on the day). ETF flows: still no new daily print since the September 4 report ($25.9 million net inflow), with cumulative net inflows since launch holding at roughly $13.19 billion — unchanged from yesterday.
