Ethereum Daily — October 5, 2026
This edition covers roughly the last 48 hours (October 3–5, since no edition ran on the 4th) and is diffed against the October 3 post.
Roadmap. No material new development. The picture is unchanged from two days ago: Glamsterdam's Sepolia activation is still targeted for tomorrow, October 6 at 13:53 UTC, following Devnet-11's successful rehearsal. The 200M gas-limit bundle and block-level access lists remain the working target, and mainnet timing is still the general Q4 2026 window — nothing has moved that forward or pushed it back.
Governance. No new development since the last post. EIP-8363 remains withdrawn from Hegota's scope, with the dispute still parked for Devcon in November.
Institutional and corporate adoption. No material new development in the last 48 hours. No fresh corporate ETH-treasury purchases, ETF product filings, or tokenization announcements surfaced beyond what's already been reported.
Stats. The one area with real movement. ETH pulled back from the $2,748 breakout noted two days ago, trading around $2,702 as of October 4 after failing to clear the $2,800 resistance level — a modest pullback rather than a reversal. Futures open interest hit $33.69 billion on October 4 (open interest up alongside a 7.1% 30-day price gain), and derivatives trackers flagged a large short position of roughly $61 million with an estimated liquidation price near $3,010, suggesting two-sided positioning into tomorrow's testnet activation. On-chain, Ethereum DeFi TVL has climbed to $54 billion, up from $39 billion in June, and staking participation has crossed 35% of supply, with staked ETH now valued above $119 billion. On ETF flows: the four-session red streak through October 2 (reported in the last post) still stands as the latest confirmed daily print — no newer day-by-day figure had surfaced in sourcing as of this writing, though the broader pattern remains selective rotation out of ETH funds even as other crypto ETFs saw inflows on the same days.
