# Ethereum Daily — October 8, 2026

# Ethereum Daily — October 8, 2026

This edition covers roughly the last 24–48 hours (October 7–8) and is diffed against [yesterday's post](https://julienberanger.com/eth-daily-2026-10-07).

**Roadmap.** No material new development since yesterday. Glamsterdam's combined Amsterdam/Gloas fork remains live on Sepolia after its October 6 activation, with client teams still watching how validators and nodes handle the bumped 200 million gas limit and the new enshrined proposer-builder separation (ePBS) logic. Mainnet timing is still undecided and Hoodi testnet dates remain unset; the official roadmap continues to list Glamsterdam only as an "H2 2026" window rather than a fixed date.

**Governance.** No new governance development since yesterday; EIP-8363's staking-reward-burn dispute remains parked ahead of Devcon in November.

**Institutional and corporate adoption.** New here: BitMine chairman Tom Lee said at the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore that the company will stop buying ETH once its treasury reaches 5% of circulating supply. BitMine currently holds about 6.016 million ETH (roughly 4.9% of supply) and needs on the order of 100,000 more ETH to hit that self-imposed ceiling — a notable change from the open-ended accumulation framing of prior updates. Separately, Tom Lee was quoted via social media suggesting ETH could reach $50,000 this cycle; that figure comes from secondhand posts rather than a verified primary statement, so treat it as speculative rather than confirmed. No other new treasury, ETF-product, or tokenization announcements turned up in today's sourcing — recent-looking JPMorgan and BNP Paribas tokenized-fund stories both trace back to late 2025 and February 2026, not the last day.

**Stats.** New since yesterday: ETH broke below the $2,600 support level, trading in a roughly $2,565–$2,617 range on October 7 — down about 3–5% from yesterday's flat $2,690–$2,715 band. Spot ETH ETFs logged a seventh straight day of net outflows: about $160.8 million left on October 7, following the $201.9 million outflow on October 6, for roughly $362 million withdrawn across the two sessions. Bitcoin ETFs kept taking in inflows over the same stretch (~$118.8 million on October 7), consistent with the rotation-out-of-ETH dynamic already flagged yesterday rather than a new trend. DeFi TVL, staking participation, and staked ETH value show no new prints since yesterday's figures (TVL near $54 billion, staking above 35% of supply, staked value north of $119 billion).
