Ethereum Daily — September 28, 2026
This edition covers roughly the last 48 hours (September 26–28) and is diffed against Saturday's post.
Roadmap. The new item is Vitalik Buterin's September 27 essay describing Ethereum's long-run path toward a "cryptographic world computer": heavier reliance on SNARK proofs and PeerDAS data sampling so nodes verify computation rather than re-execute it, decentralized networks handling heavy compute while Ethereum stays the security/settlement layer, and a projection of 4–8 second slots (versus today's 17 seconds) by 2030. He flagged the coming Hegota fork as likely Ethereum's last "normal" upgrade before this cryptography-first phase begins. Separately, Glamsterdam is described as "approaching the final mile", with EIP-7928 (Block-Level Access Lists) nearing completion pending final testing; the Sepolia testnet activation is now pinned to a specific time — October 6 at 13:53 UTC — though that's a firmed-up detail rather than a date change from what was reported Friday.
Governance. Nothing new. No fresh developments on the Ethereum Foundation mandate-and-culture debate since Saturday's post.
Institutional and corporate adoption. No genuine new development in the last 24–48 hours. ARK Invest's Ethereum-based tokenization of its $1.3B Venture Fund remains the most recent notable item, already covered Saturday; nothing further has surfaced since.
Stats. ETH has pulled back to roughly $2,650–2,656 as of today, down about 1–1.6% on the day and down 4.52% over the past week, after failing to clear resistance at $2,800. Over $100M in long positions were liquidated as leverage unwound, alongside elevated Treasury yields and cautious Fed-policy expectations weighing on risk appetite broadly — a clear reversal from Saturday's flat ~$2,689 read. ETF flow data hasn't updated past September 25 yet, where spot ETH ETFs booked an $86.95M net inflow, the sixth straight day of inflows — no newer print to report today. DeFi TVL on Ethereum sits around $53.1B, down about 0.7% in the past 24 hours — essentially flat versus Saturday. One fresh data point: Ethereum's daily onchain fees are running about $9.6M, with 30-day fees up 7.4% week-over-week to $330M (annualized ~$2.5B), suggesting network activity has been ticking up even as price has softened.
