Ethereum Daily — October 6, 2026
This edition covers roughly the last 24 hours (October 5–6) and is diffed against yesterday's post.
Roadmap. Today is the day: Glamsterdam's Sepolia activation is scheduled for 13:53:36 UTC (epoch 353,024) — as of this writing it has not yet gone live. The upgrade bundles enshrined proposer-builder separation with block-level access lists for parallel transaction processing; Hoodi testnet and mainnet dates still haven't been set, so Sepolia is the first real signal on timing. Separately, the Ethereum Foundation surfaced a new line of work overnight: a draft standard, EIP-7906, for "native assertions" under its Trillion Dollar Security initiative. The idea is to let a transaction carry read-only, post-execution checks — three new opcodes (TXTRACE, TXDIFF, EVENTDATACOPY) that verify state changes against rules like minimum token amounts or spending limits — aimed at cases where a signature is valid but the outcome isn't what the user intended (the EF cited a real Aave swap where a user received about $36,000 worth of tokens instead of an expected $50.4 million). It's early-stage and not yet slated for any upgrade.
Governance. No new development since yesterday. EIP-8363's staking-reward-burn proposal remains withdrawn from Hegota's scope, with the dispute still parked for a separate process ahead of Devcon in November.
Institutional and corporate adoption. No material new development in the last 24-48 hours. Nothing beyond what's already been reported turned up in today's sourcing — no fresh corporate ETH-treasury buys, ETF product filings, or tokenization deals.
Stats. ETH is trading around $2,705–$2,715, essentially flat versus yesterday's $2,702 and still capped below the $2,780–$2,800 resistance band that's held for several sessions; a close above it is the level traders are watching for a run at $3,000+. Futures open interest ticked up to $34.1 billion (from $33.69B), while Binance's perpetual cumulative volume delta has stayed net negative since September 22, pointing to persistent derivatives selling even as spot price holds steady. On ETF flows, the picture firmed up: Friday, October 2 wasn't the last print after all — Monday, October 5 added another $18.9 million in net outflows, extending the streak to five straight sessions and roughly $174 million in cumulative withdrawals since September 29. On-chain fundamentals look unchanged from yesterday: DeFi TVL around $54 billion and staking participation above 35% of supply, with staked ETH value still north of $119 billion — no new prints on either since the last post.
