Ethereum Daily — October 25, 2026

This edition covers developments since the last post on October 22 — so items from October 23–25.

Roadmap. The headline item: the Ethereum Foundation has postponed Glamsterdam's activation on the Hoodi testnet, which was set for October 26 at 17:42:48 UTC. Developers said they need more time to evaluate how EIP-8037, one of the upgrade's core changes, interacts with existing smart contracts. The companion plan to raise Hoodi's gas limit to 200 million is delayed along with it, and no new testnet date has been set. The Foundation was explicit that this is a testnet-only slip — it doesn't touch mainnet and requires no action from ETH holders — but it does push back the point at which developers can start talking seriously about a mainnet date for Glamsterdam.

Governance. No material new developments since the 22nd. EIP-8363 (the staking-reward-burn proposal) remains parked for the November Devcon issuance-policy forum; no new Foundation leadership, budget, or structural news broke in the last two days.

Institutional and corporate adoption. Nothing new since yesterday's post. JPMorgan's Kinexys bringing JPM Coin (JPMD) to Ethereum on October 19 remains the most recent concrete move; no fresh bank, fund, or corporate-treasury announcement surfaced in the last 24–48 hours.

Stats. ETH kept sliding: as of Saturday evening (October 24, ~18:40 UTC) it traded around $2,300, down about 4.5% day-over-day and sitting right on its 100-day moving average — a clear step down from the $2,440–$2,490 range noted in yesterday's post. ETF flows (per Farside Investors) were mixed but still net negative: U.S. spot Ether ETFs saw a $110.6 million net outflow on October 22, then flipped to a small $4.4 million net inflow on October 23; the trailing five trading sessions through the 23rd lost about $220.7 million combined, keeping October on track to be the heaviest outflow month of 2026. On derivatives, ETH perpetual funding briefly dipped slightly negative on the 24th — the first non-positive reading since October 13 — suggesting the recent bullish leverage has largely unwound; options volatility (DVOL) ticked up to 55.0 from 50.7, read as the market pricing in a move without a clear direction into next week. No material new staking or L2 data beyond the Bitwise report already covered in prior posts.
